VOW and ABLE Collaborate
to Make a Difference
Through generous grants of the WellPoint Foundation and the support of our Life & Disability organization, WellPoint is sponsoring the Wounded Warrior Disabled Sports Project and the United States Association of Blind Athletes. WellPoint's associate resource groups for veterans (VOW) and for people with disabilities (ABLE) are collaborating to support this effort by enhancing awareness and education.

Mentoring Students
about Health Care
PRIDE, WellPoint’s African American ARG, is successfully partnering with our Indiana-based plan to champion a health care-focused mentoring program for high school students of the Crispus Attucks Medical Magnet School. In its third year of operation, this program provides students access to one-on-one mentoring, group meetings with WellPoint leaders and resources for learning about health care and the health insurance industry.

Executive Women
The National Association for Female Executives (NAFE) named WellPoint to the NAFE Top 50 Companies for Executive Women list. This is the third consecutive year WellPoint receives this prestigious recognition. The list includes organizations whose policies and practices encourage women's advancement and whose representation at the highest levels of leadership demonstrates that commitment.

An Advocate for
People with Disabilities
Phil Gates, IT developer, was named by CAREERS and the disABLED magazine as one of its "Employees of the Year" for his professional and advocacy efforts on behalf of people with disabilities, in the workplace and in the community. This marks the fourth year in a row that a WellPoint associate has received this recognition. Phil is an active member of WellPoint’s Abilities Beyond Limited Expectations (ABLE) associate resource group.

ANGLE Champions
Inclusion Initiatives
The new Safe Space Program and the gender transition guidelines, developed in partnership with WellPoint's Associate Network for Gay and Lesbian Equality (ANGLE), are two important initiatives that played a central role in ANGLE's recognition as a top 10 recipient of the 2011 Diversity Honors Award, presented by the Association of Diversity Councils.

ARG Learning Circle
Focuses on Career Growth
Eighteen protégé-advisor pairs successfully completed the inaugural round of the ARG Learning Circle in May 2011. This program focuses on mentoring, enhanced networking, and career guidance for ARG members. A new group of approximately 50 mentoring pairs started the program in June 2011.
